History

The most beautiful companies are founded from an everyday situation. For example, a common problem that needs solving. This also applies to CF Industrial. Two brothers came up with a smart solution to a problem in their garage. That is the DNA of CF Industrial; analysing a situation and tackling individual problems in an innovative way.

CF Industrial’s roots can be tracked back to two brothers, one with a technical background and one with a commercial background. The former owned a company with a spray booth. At the time, spray fumes were simply blown out in an unfiltered manner. This much to the dismay of neighbouring companies Temperatures ran high, ultimately resulting in the neighbours demanding a solution for all those annoying odours.

The technical brother developed a filter package with activated carbon as the main component and the problem was immediately solved. The commercial brother went one step further. If this works with a spray booth, it probably works in other places too, he thought. He was right. In 1987 the brothers started the company CAN Filters in Linschoten. The spray booth was converted into a production area for activated carbon filters.

The continuous drive to expand resulted in steady growth. Over the years, the company’s range was expanded and the machine park where the filters are produced followed suit. In 2011, the company was taken over by two former employees, after which the growth took a giant leap. For example, in 2019 there was an impressive tripling of personnel and production capacity.

Since 2011 there has been a continuous focus on product improvement, process optimisation and automation of production processes. The result is that our standard products are now used in more than 40 countries worldwide.

In early 2018, CF Industrial moved to an even more spacious location and substantial investments were made in the new production facility. CF Industrial is now even more effective in providing partners with the desired products.

Flexibility is our most important added value. Customers and partners count on this. It drives growth in the production of speciality filters, non-standard sizes and alternative media types. This is how we anchor CF Industrial in the market; as a party that has a suitable solution for every situation. Even if we don’t have a direct solution available, we will create it ourselves.
